This book could stand to lose about 2/3 of the examples. It’s all so trite— and strangely Freudian. The black-and-white narrative is useful to understand the borderline individual, but at this point in the book all of these examples are both glaring and gratuitous

So far we’ve tried to determine a reason for BPD, ran briefly through symptoms, and now are exploring the SET-UP method of intervention; my big problem with this book so far is that all the examples used feel too extreme, yes BPD is a dehabilitating illness, but not every example of a symptom or hypothetical needs to be brought to the macabre extreme to illustrate that
