Story about a man called Higs, his dog & a plane. And a flu pandemic. Most of the wold Higs knew and loved has suffered and died. He lives by an airport with a gun toting neighbour, flying the perimeter & defending their patch. When the hound, his only link to the old world, dies Higs takes off in his Cesna to find a better world. Well told story. You feel his pain, rejoice in his love. Apocalyptic, but with hope.
