Social violence happens for a buffet of reasons. Not just - as many people with college educations believe - for power and control. (Although their obsession with dominance makes one...curious.)

The kind of funny in a nasty way part of (the skull's) armor is that someone punching it is likely to break their hand. Especially common are what are known as boxer's fractures.
See, this is what I love about MacYoung's work on violence...I'm always saying "holy crap I've seen that happen!"

Anybody - and I do mean anybody - can be pushed far enough to physically attack or defend. Not just hitting, but also killing.

MacYoung is getting into some serious physics regarding the throwing of a punch...what's funny here is that a lot of what he's saying sounds a great deal like stuff I've learned as a laborer lifting heavy things. Specifically tossing lumber on the green chain - there's a trick to it, you either learn it or get physically destroyed by the job.
Fascinating how physics applies universally...

It's odd but we're more comfortable with the threatening behavior than we are with the strike. In certain circles it's an unwritten rule that being verbally and emotionally violent and threatening is acceptable, but you're a savage if you actually physically touch someone.

Violence as a form of communication is a subject where once you scratch the surface it gets real deep, real quick.
