I've read through the 1950s, and the ongoing history of DC Comics grows ever more interesting. The Comics Code Authority puts regulations in place which hinder horror comics, but allows for superheroes to grow in favour. There's also reinventions of classic characters, such as The Flash and Green Lantern, while some of the more popular villains and supporting characters make their first appearances.

I've read my way through the 1940s, and it's an interesting time. Superhero comics were booming throughout World War II, as people wanted escapism from the real world, and then suffered after that. Once heavy hitters like Flash and Green Lantern had their issues cancelled, and DC expanded, putting out titles focused on comedic characters, Westerns, and romance.

So far, I've been treated to a fascinating history of DC comics, leading up to the births of its two biggest characters, Batman and Superman. It's hard to believe Supes was turned away as a concept so many times, but it all worked out well.
