Almost hundred pages in and I am still settling into this novel. It is captivating, yet in a peculiar way. I'm curious to know what happens next, however, till now some parts have been a bit cringey (racism wise) and unrealistic, yet at the same time it is intriguing and gives a glimpse the fascinating period in Haiti's history around the time of the revolution for independence.
