Wow, with the departure of John Byrne and his replacement by Bob Harras, this book went from boring to unreadable and incomprehensible. You know you're in bad hands when the book has to have text pages inserted at the end of a few issues to explain what the eff you just read.

Ouch. John Byrne, in a Marvel age article, calls his Namor "Donald Trump with wings on his heels.".......

Oh, you got me again, John Byrne!!!
Totally unexpectedly, and I should have known better, John Byrne just vanishes from the book, no doubt in a fit of pique, and is replaced by Bob Harras, without wrapping up any of his billion dangling plotlines....
Fool me 150 times, shame on you.....(I really should have known better than to expect a full run by Byrne. My bad.)

This is what I refer to as a "Strongman Book", because it really takes strength to power through. I picked up the first three issues back in 1990 and then dropped the book because it was so boring. Decades later, along comes the omnibus, and I think "Wow, another complete John Byrne run collected! This CAN'T be as boring as I remember it being!"
But it is.
It is.
