I get that Jory is attractive, but the sheer amount of adoration and lust he gets from multiple directions feels incredibly over the top. I mean, how many faceless sub-characters is Calmes going to have lusting after this guy? It's getting boring.
In fact, a lot of the scenes are just redundant and boring, as if desperately trying to make sure the readers knows Jory is uber amazing in every way possible. We get it

Okay, Jory is basically every domineering, nagging, "woman knows best" chick I've sever seen in a sitcom, except he has boy parts. He treats Sam like a moron jock who can barely tie his shoes, all while HE makes every wrong decision imaginable. I'm starting to think Mary Clames is doing some kind of Mary-Sue thing in her novels, because these MCs are ALL THE SAME.

I'm already starting to think that this story would have been better in the POV of the cop rather than Jory.

So far (unless these people end up having roles in the main plot later) chapter two is a completely unnecessary waste of time. Wow. And also, I feel like Calmes has botched the "first impressions" test yet again. I don't like Jory. He feels like a arrogant, insensitive little shit who, quite frankly, seems to have a low opinion of every woman around him. Here's to hoping he gets better =P
