Eph 1:3-4
Calvin preaches a beautiful sermon on salvation by election. Since man is fallen in Adam, it cannot be that God simply foresees man who does good and elects him, "how should he foresee that which could not be?" Instead, "he must have first looked on our Lord Jesus Christ before he could choose us and call us." The WCF I.IV-V agrees with C that, "God works in man's minds and hearts by the power of the HS."
