This book was praised by a guest on the Ezra Klein podcast so having never read Gish Jen, I decided to give it a go. It isn’t easy to stay involved in the plot, nonetheless I am hanging in there to see if somehow the plot picks up. It’s not quite a slog but more of an effort to read than I had hoped. Someone write that they found the dialogue artificial and I tend to agree.
