Gussie at 13, would become a communing member of the church, an event her father had anticipated a natural and easy eventuality. He was surprised then one evening for her to set him aside and confess a crisis of faith. Despite only ever having Christian acquaintances, she had learned to question so much of the bible. While resolved, He warns us "The devil is able to teach a child much that is beyond their years".

"It was the most solemn lesson Providence has ever taught me of the awfulness of sin." Gut-wrenching to read, yet still profitable in its usage by God. That we may see the horrible effects of sin in this world, the pain and sorrow, and be driven by these things to hate Sin all the more, and to pursue God as our only hope and comfort.

Very somber reading with notes of encouragement for those in Christ.
