Realizing the narrative you spun to protect yourself is just something you created to make sense of bad things happening to you, is heartbreaking/terrifying. Especially when that forces you to acknowledge that someone you love was not the wonderful person you made them out to be.
Healing can be scary, the people that want you to heal can be so easy to push away when we don’t want to deal with bad parts of ourselves

Making decisions (even on something as simple as an ice cream flavor) and immediately changing your mind based off of someone's reaction so you can make them happy until suddenly you realize you don't have any idea how to be your own person. This is something I've started working on getting over within the last few years. I stop and ask myself all the time now "is this for my happiness or someone else's?" still hard

On page 9 and I can tell this book is going to ruin me but also help heal as well. Already getting that feeling of never being enough. Feeling like you need to be more because if you just tried harder, if you were just better then mom would be better too.
Loving how clear the author's voice comes through, makes what could have been a difficult read much easier.
Here we go ;-; ♥
