Really enjoyed the chapter on John McCarthy. Perhaps because I vividly recall his fame and, like so many as the author notes, had a bit of a crush on him. Good to discover that he's as I'd always imagined: a thoroughly good bloke!

Today I have found out about Nadia Comaneci (only knew her as a teenage gymnast), Reinhold Messner (never heard of him) and Joe Kittinger (knew who he was thanks to Felix Baumgartner and Stratos) Now I know much more and they're all three rather interesting and inspiring people! Gloria Gaynor awaits me tomorrow.

Learning a lot about the diversity of astronauts :)
