"Oh my look at the time. I have to get back." bit modern there- I'm sure there's a decent story buried in here beneath the too-modern sounding bits, and the overly old-fashioned sounding bits.

this is a book where I want to call out the editor and yell "WTH? Did you fail basic grammar?"

I have tried several times to get into this book, but between the sentence fragments (seriously, editor, where were you?) and the annoying words I don't know and don't have a glossary for (Domnuathi-anyone? what is this?) I think I'll table this for a bit.

random question: would a girl in 1815 know about bombs? like "it felt like she was holding a bomb in her hand and it would go off any minute." That doesn't seem like a normal thought for the early 1800s
