I have to say this book is a chore to get through. I like Nabokov's writing but I don't like the plot.

It's definitely interesting, that's for sure! I also really don't like Humbert. He's so manipulative and controlling.

Sorry you didn't like this one- did I recommend it? If so my fault! I didn't like the plot either- and I dislike HH too- but it is one of my favorite novels.
You didn't recommend it! I saw it at a used bookstore and picked it up! For some reason I just couldn't get into it. I loved the writing though. Nabokov is amazing. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
Ya, it's quite a famous and controversial book. It's not for everyone. Nabokov wrote a lot of books as you probably know, some of them I find very hard to get into, a few of them I really like, but if you really like his writing there is much out there. He is a great writer.
