Goldsworthy's highly readable treatise is both entertaining and educational. The first hundred or so pages sets the reader up with backgrounds on Antony's family, his entrance to politics, as well as introducing us to the Ptolemy family, how they came to power in Egypt and leads into Caesar's civil war, setting the stage for the romance of the ages.
