The book is meant to be commentary on the displacement of white men in a post #metoo world, but is pretty tone deaf. The main character is a collage of masculine-hero stereotypes - Macgyver like bad-ass meets genius with superficial childhood hang ups (mean dad, dead mum, living in the shadow of a perfect best friend). All the women are depicted as either victims, vixens or vexatious bitches.
