Q68 What is the oldest electronic device you own that you still use regularly that you access GR on? Mine is my trusty W7 laptop. Keyboard and battery gone a long time ago but it's fast, does everything I want and highly customisable, unlike my other W10 laptops & dreadful Chrome book. I use GR from it and occasionally from my phone. It's a cheap Android. I'm not cool enough for an iPhone!

5-year old Macbook Pro; a little cranky but everything still works. I don't do Windows. Very occasionally I use my Pixel 4a. I generally use computers, phones, and cars until they drop.

9 year old Toshiba that has two minutes of battery life and will occasionally take 30 minutes to load up Windows. Much better than the "fancy" looking HP that had state of the art sound but broke down within a year.

I've got a falling-apart, taped-up (pink gaffer tape) 2008 Outlander. It's a disgrace but still goes up the mountains!

Everything I use is "old" except a Fire Tablet. I have a use it 'til it's dead attitude now. I snickered at your dreadful Chromebook comment. Hardly ever plug in mine or charge it. Bought it on a whim while recovering from surgery so I could watch tv/movies in my bedroom. Other than being lightweight it's "dreadful" to use.
My Windows 8 laptop. I have an iPad 2 mini that still works fine, but I don't use it for internet stuff anymore. I'm not sure how old my Kindle is; I'll have to look. It's a black-and-white touch screen.

My father's old (but don't know how old) Acer computer that still seems to work fine... and I usually come to GR only through laptop use ::)
My old (and only) android phone (upgrading, renewing contracts is a pain in the arse so I keep my phones until they are dead or non-functional). I don't usually use the phone for anything but calls and messages. I don't do typing with thumbs or stabbing at the screen with one finger. I use 10 figures to type. So I don't use the phone for GR unless I have to look up a book in the shop before buying it.I suppose I can access GR on my 10 year old Samsung tablet, but I don't bother with the tablet anymore. I usually use my laptop. It's new, because the old one died (the screen stopped working and not replacement parts available anymore).

Taking 30 mins reminds me of dial-up, remember that and waiting for things to load and hoping no-one phoned and cut you off?
What is the oldest electronic device you own that you still use regularly that you access GR on?Well, that's easy! I only ever access GR with any frequency on my laptop, which is a newish Intel NUC mini desktop running Win10. Very occasionally I will look at GR on my iPad (still through the web interface -- the GR app is dreadful.)
I ordered the NUC 27-Feb-2022, and the iPad in October-2021, so both are fairly new.

It won't let me dl any programs I want, and when I did an Android simulation it will let me use those apps but only in a phone-sized portion of the screen. Load of rubbish. I don't even use Chrome as a browser anyway. I use Brave, Vivaldi, Epic and occasionally DuckDuckGo on the phone because it tells me who is spying on me, but it won't let me do speech-to-text so it's not really much use.
No, I've been converted to the new page. :( I got my Kindle in 2017. I think I got my laptop in 2013; that's the oldest files on it, anyway.

Probably :)
I also keep things until they die and can't be resuscitated. I have a car that is 3 years old now, but my previous one I had for 20 years. I many access GR on my 2012 Toshiba laptop. Battery & fan have died and it does get slow but still works pretty well for me s long as I can keep it plugged in somewhere!

I still have and occasionally use my second kindle from March 2012 that I replaced when I lost it in a Melbourne pub maybe 8 years ago. But having scratched my mobile number on it, I got a text nearly two years later asking if I had lost this device. So my nephew picked it up and mailed it to me, so now I still occasionally use it although the charge doesn't last long.

Petra semi-hiatus as jumping up for carnival wrote: "So you don't hang on to your old electronics but get nice new ones fairly regularly? In point of fact, My old iPad and my old home computer died the Real Death in Oct-2021 and Feb-2022, respectively. That's why I have fairly new ones. And I drive a 2003 Passat.
As for W10 vs W7 -- WSL is a *HUGE* win. It is rare, but every now and then M$ does something right -- by accident, one assumes.
We just sold a 1989 Toyota pickup to my niece. It's not fancy but works fine.I went from WinXP to 8 when the XP machine died. I much prefer XP. I haven't heard any gushing reviews for 11, either.
Chris wrote: "GR on my 2012 Toshiba laptop. Battery & fan have died and it does get slow but still works pretty well for me s long as I can keep it plugged in somewhere! ..."It sounds like you may have to consider a new one in the near future as it is dying by degrees!
I have a 2017 HP Laptop (so 6 years old with windows 10) that I use for everything. I keep things forever too. I used to own an Acer laptop before this HP one which lasted near 10 years before it died a slow death. I also use my android phone to access the GR app but only for looking at stuff - I don't use it much for anything else. Maybe once in awhile to comment or send a message but that is rare on the phone - the only time I would do that is if I am in bed and don't feel like dragging out the laptop. I do have a kindle fire fairly new (2 yrs old) as my old fire died but I rarely use the kindle to scroll through GR mobile app.
John wrote: "I lost it in a Melbourne pub maybe 8 years ago. But having scratched my mobile number on it, I got a text nearly two years later asking if I had lost this device...."That is amazing. I wonder who had been using it for two years and then either gave it up or lost it themselves?

Apparently it fell into a planter, was found by staff and unused as I have it password protected. Still find it very weird indeed Petra.
Marie wrote: "I do have a kindle fire fairly new (2 yrs old) as my old fire died but I rarely use the kindle to scroll through GR mobile app...."Can you type comments and reviews on a Kindle? I thought it was a read-only device?
On mine you can add notes and highlights, which import straight into GR, and it will automatically mark it as Currently Reading and Read for you (which is a problem if someone borrows the kindle).
Audrey wrote: "On mine you can add notes and highlights, which import straight into GR, and it will automatically mark it as Currently Reading and Read for you (which is a problem if someone borrows the kindle)."Does it have a virtual keyboard or what?
Petra semi-hiatus as jumping up for carnival wrote: "Does it have a virtual keyboard or what?"A touch-screen keyboard pops up when you insert a note. I hate it. I usually add notes afterward on my desktop.

Nope. Not on mine,
Just googled it -- apparently there are speech-to-text apps one can install.
L wrote: "Just googled it -- apparently there are speech-to-text apps one can install..."I think I will stick to print!
" What is the oldest electronic device you own that you still use regularly that you access GR on?"You caught me at a time when I've renewed most of my gadgets. So my oldest laptop was bought "only" 3 years ago. I guess I do have an older Kindle, but I don't really use it to check GR, because the browsing experience is too basic.
Ms. Smartarse wrote: "You caught me at a time when I've renewed most of my gadgets. So my oldest laptop was bought "only 3 years ago..."That begs the question, how many electronic devices you could access GR from (even if you don't)?
