This is a very revealing book about U.S. dealings with China from the time of Teddy Roosevelt up to Richard Nixon's groundbreaking visit to China and Mao Zedong. The author makes a pretty convincing case that US leaders saw a mirage of China and not reality. The bad decisions made led to both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. They did not need to happen!
