ALSO very confused by the author’s choice to set this book in *checks notes* the 2nd st district in downtown Austin. I currently live in ATX so it baffles me how 1) Ciara could afford to live here on a bartender salary and 2) there are so many black people around lmao let’s go to East Austin pls and maybe, just maybe, I’ll buy it. They are all most likely hanging out on Rainey st and I hate that for them :/

As a person who has worked in many a nice bar, I am annoyed that this bartender did a bartender’s choice drink without even asking follow up questions on liquor preferences. The drink she gives him is a whiskey neat which she guesses he’d like based on the personality she assumes he has due to being a firefighter??? Get me out!! AT LEAST make a Manhattan!?!
