Sadly I don't think Max and Murian's "love" would surpass the feeling of lust tbh, They are just always too eager to kiss and grope rather than having a serious conversation. I also don't understand when Robert would have found the time to write about the card game before his death and this obsession to find his journal seems unfounded to me atm atleast

The last few chapters of this book were undoubtedly the most well written ones. I absolutely loved Tata's wits and the way they find the journal, I could not have imagined such a sinister plot behind Loudan's actions. I admit I was just a bit too harsh on Max, the way he proposed to Murian was awfully sweet and I am happy for the couple.

I did not expect Orlov to be so wise honestly and it came as a pleasant surprise, I ended up liking him more than Max himself ngl. I have no doubt that Murian is going to make some foolish mistake in her attempt to sneak into the castle now and will end up being resuced by Max which is really not as impressive as one might think

Well it did pick up a bit so that's nice but I still sense that whatever there is between Max and Murian simply stems from lust and nothing else, I wish their connection goes beyond that in the future. Max was stupid to just barge in and start the repairs, he definitely should have asked firsst, I wonder what his grandma lost to the earl

I am liking this even less than the first one tbh, the plot has yet to capture my attention, Max was so instantly drawn towards Murian that it was almost too easy, there was no chase or build up and I definitely feel the chemistry missing. I am hoping the pace would pick up in the next few chapters though
