Mrs Stuart, ma’am, the 1700s were one of the sluttiest periods in English history. Bryony wouldn’t be anywhere near as ignorant as you’re portraying her.

Unless this is supposed to be victorian? I’m not sure if the references to anarchists and split crotch drawers are anachronisms or intended to signpost a period post French Revolution.

Despite having written however many books set in the Georgian period, I don’t think Anne Stuart understands 18th century clothing at all.

I can only assume the sequel will be called ‘the worst man in Ireland (but not England, Scotland, or Wales)’
