The picture this paints of President Truman is ugly.

The horrifying realization of the sudden transition from defender to aggressor is crushing

- He started sleeping with a married woman, and when he got her pregnant he called her husband to inform him of the pregnancy and negotiate a divorce on her behalf. They eloped in Reno.

- He was quite literally seduced into the Communist Party, and paid contributions to it through the famous hematologist Thomas Addis, who was an early advocate for national health care. Addis actually nearly got President Truman to sign National Healthcare into law in the 40s, but the bill failed as legislators didn't want to be labeled communist.

Fun Fact: Thomas Addis is Gavin Newsom's great grandfather!

UPDATE: I ordered Nasi Goreng for dinner tonight and it WAS delicious.

- When he went to college he left his 15 year old brother his microscope, who immediately proceeded to use it to look at his own sperm

- He was obsessed with an Indonesian Rice Dish called Nasi Goreng, a popular egg and rice dish recently named the #2 most delicious food on earth. He cooked it often for friends, and apparently his version was SO bad they nicknamed it “Nasty, Gory” and avoided it at all costs.

Fun facts from the first 10%:

- While at school, his diet often consisted of chocolate, beer, and artichokes. He would often eat something called a "Black & Tan", which was toast with peanut butter and chocolate syrup.

- He had a life-long love of spicy foods (my man!) and would eat them even though it flared up his colitis, developed traveling Europe b/f college

- His uncle's name was pronounced "penis" (Pinhas)
