I’ve been trying to figure out why I don’t care about this book as much as I ought to. And I finally realized that it’s simply lacking in any emotion that isn’t cleverness, anger, or greed. I don’t really know who Locke is, who/what he loves, what motivates him, or why he cares about his gang mates. The world building and scheming are spot on though.

I'm curious to hear your final thoughts. I feel like some of Locke's deeper emotions start to come out at the end of this book and especially in the sequel.
