I set her gently on my bike, taking stock of all the bruises and cuts on her face. She looks at me with those huge eyes and I see the fire in them but I also see the fear.

That fear is what could fucking kill me. Seeing her in that dark ass basement will fucking haunt me for the rest of my life.

SNEAK PEEK: I walk to my car and sit inside, staring at the house for a moment. I hate all of this. I’m so distracted by everything happening that I don’t notice the person behind me in the back until a knife is against my neck.
