I've never felt this way about a book--it's the oddest thing. It's gorgeous--I want to linger over the thinking about words and language and colonialism and the brutality of translation. But it's horrifying and I don't want to read further and watch this beautiful world crumble as the characters (and we the readers, by extension) realize that this beauty was built upon the suffering of others.
