To my surprise, this will probably turn out to be my favorite read of the year, maybe of several. At more than 600 pages, it was kind of daunting to get started. I assumed that, though the proposal was cute, you could not seriously tell a "history of capitalism and the world" from the standpoint of Palo Alto. And, having found the place pretty fucking weird just driving through it, I wasn't sure I'd even care.
Wrong on both counts!
