While it is true that Mahatma Gandhi did have a meeting with Mountbatten, it is not accurate to say that he proposed Jinnah as the leader of a united India. Gandhi's primary goal was indeed to maintain unity, but there are no historical records suggesting he recommended Jinnah for the leadership role.
