Speed reading through the middle section of the book where Belinda stops being a mysterious character with a mysterious backstory and instead dumps her entire, dramatic life story into a letter.

Anne Rice is a master of writing dialogue. Wow! Especially dialogue that expresses the power games people play. I didn’t know what to expect of Anne Rice, I didn’t expect the dialogue to be this compelling and sharp.

“Like a ghost she looked, actually. Positively eerie. I mean, she suggested somebody who was apart from things around her, somebody who had seen things and done things that others didn't know about.”

First Anne Rice novel, and her writing style really draws me in. I love the the turn of her phrases.
