This book had a weak beginning - slow plot, vague characters, excessive description, unnecessary elaborations. But, the plotline was engaging enough to merit continuing. At p.100, the pace picked up a bit, & moved nicely by p.170. I was hooked by the epic feel @ p.201, & by the gentle yet fierce, savage yet noble, humble yet determined main character. It started @ 3 stars; it's now a solid 4; and may yet get 5.

Hmmm - ended a bit weaker than I expected! It was going along SO well there for awhile...then kinda fizzled. It'll still keep its 4th star - but, IMHO, suffers from blatant "Trilogy Syndrome"...stretching a decent story into multiple books. And, one pet-peeve is that, especially here, the ending just DROPPED! Mega-cliffhanger! Rework the ending to keep THIS storyline intact and complete w/in a single volume.
