The cover of this book sells it as 'A novel about love, heartbreak and dessert' which is so patronisingly off the mark it makes me wonder if the publishers are actually just really sexiest.

This is a novel about gaslighting. Sophie is being manipulated by a truly horrible older man who makes her insecure and emotionally dependent on him yet unable to walk away no matter how badly he treats her.
