Great book! At the conclusion of this one I discovered I have an affinity for the tragic heroes of British exploration: Franklin, Cook, Scott, and now Livingstone. Shackleton obviously is the exception being the antithesis of a tragic hero (his incredible story can be read, Endurance). If you want to read a great novel about human resilience and fortitude this is a must read.
