This reminds me a little of old school Harlequin romances where the hero thinks he can fix everything with a hard kiss that plunders the heroine's mouth and makes her forget all of her very rational concerns about why she should NOT capitulate to what the hero wants - which is sex and an heir. But this book was written a bit ago, so maybe that was still acceptable then?
