You’re telling me I’m 11 hours in and THIS is when the plot starts?

i love that we don’t know his real name. It’s such a good use of that literary device to emphasize the cruelty of whitewashing/being stripped of identity

@Jassmine it’s rlly good so far! Just the length and the fact that nothing rlly happened for the first half is kinda weird
@Jassmine I agree. Like it held good conversations (anti colonialism and capitalism) but it forgot what it was trying to do w the characters and fully fumbled. Plus the beginning was all filler like hello
Yeah, there were bits that I really liked (like the thing you pointed out earlier - we never learn Robin's name), but then there were other places that completely lacked nuance and... and also yes, so much filler and repeated sentiments instead of exploring things further. I really wanted to love this, but I ended up annoyed *sigh*
@Jassmine yess 100% like i liked it but i’m still heavily critical of it esp cuz it’s one of the most popular and accessible anti capitalism books
Yeah, I think I would like it much better if it wasn't so hyped, like this book is exactly my niche category so I was REALLY excited for it, which... yeah, not great place to start for any book...
