Just like everyone else in the wake of dialectical theology, the way forward has been in one way or another along the lines of Hegel. With Pannenberg it’s the idea of contingency, with Moltmann, the suffering of God, and maybe with Bonhoeffer it is in the question of ethics(?).

Tillich, for his part, identifies self-opposition with finality! And he recognizes modernity as strictly irreversible.

Very compelling stuff!
