Jill Bagley I’ve always wanted to read this but have never gotten around to it. Let me know if it ends up being worth the read.

Katie It was okay. I would actually like to see a comparison between this and Crime and Punishment. I think there could be some strong connections in how our actions affect our mental states; that there is always a price to pay even if you think you have gotten away with it. There is also a point at the beginning of when Dorian sees what his life has done to the picture and he decides that he wants to live a good life so it doesn’t affect the picture as much. But then he realizes that it will always age, that no matter how good of a life he lives he will always lose his beauty to age. So he decides that it’s not worth it then to live good if it’s not going to save him. And I think there is a lot to dive into with that idea. What will we do to be beautiful? What will we give up?

So for like themes and discussion points I would have given it 4 stars. However, there was a really long part in the middle that felt like it was not really needed or adding to the story, so that was a little frustrating and so I gave it 3.

I think it was worth the read overall. But I don’t know how often I’m going to go back to it.
