It is not only the different sciences but also the different virtues that can become veils over the Real; even the supreme virtue of ikhlas, sincerity, purity of devotion, can be a veil insofar as the individual appropriates it to himself rather than attributing its presence in the soul to the grace of God, the Object of devotion.
