“—I am not sure how long they will remain unconscious.” — Drakkar said about the women.
“That will make it so much more interesting.” — Benjar
Lol, I thought I came to read sci-fi romance not dark romance xD

This was disappointing. No chemistry between the characters. Insta-love and insta-lust. Barely any dialogues with depth. Unnecessary inner monologues. Trivial information dump. Reduction of a strong FMC to a carer. MMC who sleeps through half the story and when he is awake he is sh!tty at communicating. Dull spicy scenes. Weak plot (was there even one?). Anticlimactic ending. Telling not showing type of writing.

Oh god that was the most anticlimactic meeting ever written. After all the lead-up the book prepared us for, it was heavily lacking emotion. They met, they hugged, they smiled and now they are a mixed-alien family. Who cares that her sister was taken. Who cares that she was worried. Disappointing.

This is supposed to be a cosy, warm moment where they share their deepest feelings and commit to each other because they feel such strong love for one another.
Bullsh*t.
He gave her an org*sm and she gave him one and with 5 mins of conversation they fell in love. Right. This book is so full of telling with no showing that I don’t believe a word written on these pages…

She loves him?! What? When? How? Why? She literally only talked to him for 5 minutes and pleasured each other for 10 more. I’m absolutely fuming. The MMC has been sleeping through half the book after he had taken her and she has been playing housewife. The loud-mouthed, full of fight FMC was reduced to be a carer of an overgrown cat she doesn’t even know but loves?! Has the orgasm reduced her brain capacity? O.o

There’s absolutely no chemistry between the characters. There were a couple of funny sentences in those rare dialogues, but there’s no romance or chemistry, even though they’re already being intimate. As a romance and character focused reader, I can’t see the romance nor can I see them grow closer. The writing wants me to believe they are, but just because you say it, it doesn’t mean it actually happens.

We are 50% into the story and the characters barely grew closer to each other. Actually… it’s hard to grow closer when one is unconscious. I mean come on. 30% trivia, 30% inner monologues, 30% “action” and 10% actual dialogue. It’s disappointing

Oh it seems I was wrong and it will indeed mostly focus on one couple. Good good good. It looks like it’s not going to suffer from the same issues as book 1.

I really hope this book isn’t going to suffer from the same issues as book 1. Whilst there are loads of characters, such short novellas should be focusing on the main couple. If out of 130 pages 40+ are about side characters, that’s not a good ratio. How can I love the characters and feel their genuine connection when I learn more about side characters than the ones we should be focusing on?!

For how short this book is, it has quite a slow start. I understand in needs some background, but I feel like 70% of the information presented is just trivia.
