This is book two, and I have not read book one. A tragedy occurs. Can the teens change the past? Can they save a life, which would in turn alter their lives?

They meet a boy called Aldous Underwood. Is he an old vagrant, living in the submerged branches of a very large tree, near their home, in the present or is he part of their history? The tree is part of the mystery. When the characters meet there, they are transported to a different time in an alternated world. This is a great Sci-fi story.

Found in the Cortland library, in New York, while visiting our families. I am not familiar with the author. The cover caught my eye-snippets of events in the story, contained in water bubbles. The characters live in Withern Rise, which is inundated with flood waters. Aleric and Naia, two teenagers living almost identical lives in different versions of Withern Rise, meet and are stranded in the wrong realities.
