Amazing. Hearing about Maya life at her grandmothers (aka mother) shop in Arkansas. Folks picking cotton, the kkk, Shakespeare. Mary’s writing is smooth. Love the way she paints pictures. Emotionally i can feel what she’s writing.

Auntie Angelou talks about these white trash folks that live on Mommas property but show her no respect. as dirty and ignorant as they are. We also see the contrast of how cleanliness was paramount in big momma’s home. They’re black and seen as less than, but they took care of themselves held themselves too a higher standard. She also touches on the segregation in Stamps Arkansas.
