No idea, but same thing has happened to me.

You can’t. The only thing you can do is not ignore it. If you leave it pending they can’t invite you again. You will still see the notification on your profile but you won’t get repeated alerts. I have twelve pending right now. I can’t stand group invites lol.

I have like 30+! I appreciate the thought, but I’m just not interested. I wish they would add a feature to block it

I always have to click the red flag, so I handled it by blocking the people who were sending repeated invitations.

It’s like pulling weeds, more will pop up in a day or two.

I'm baffled by this trend. I don't understand the motivation. Simply bumping up numbers for the group seems pointless.

No idea. I like the groups that make you jump through hoops to get in 😆. But I don’t really use groups anyway.

When I first joined Goodreads I used groups for book recs (I was new to genres like dark romance & bodice rippers). I'm actually mod of a Goodreads group. I would never imagine messaging my Goodreads friends asking them to join or participate. Participation should be organic and based on self-motivated interest in the book genre.

That’s how I joined the three that I belong to. But I don’t really get much out of them anymore because I don’t have time to check them.

Thank you! I swear people are sending me friend requests just to immediately invite me to join “The book you like most” group. It’s weird! And then they’ll send it multiple times until I have to delete them from my friends list. Wild!

only way ive learned to deal with them is ignoring them 🫣
