Billy Pilgrim had just been released from the train he was being kept in with other American soldiers. Some people were dying, wounded, sick, or already dead; others were starving and weak from lack of food. They had eventually been taken to a camp, which I can only assume was Dresden. During this train ride, Billy would blink and he would switch from being in 1944 to 1967.

Billy Pilgrim time travels all while going through the war in Dresden. He travels to when he was in a psych ward for people who went through the war. He talks about the man whom he shares a room with. He has a large private collection of science fiction and allows Billy to read some. Bill then again travels to when he was in the time warp with the Tralfamadorians. He learns the fate of the universe. and why it stays.

The part of the book right now is when Billy Pilgrim gets captured by the 4 German soldiers. This was just right after Billy Pilgrim became unstuck in time for the first time. He traveled from where he was then, to when he was a child with his father at the YMCA. His father was going to throw him into the deep end to try and teach him to swim.

so far what i can tell, its about a man trying to write a book about his time spent in the war. He's calling up people he knew to resite times they spent during the war, so he can put them in his book.
