The hero is supposed to live near Hobby Airport in Houston, with a cow pasture across the street and an old oil field out his back yard. The author is a Texan, so I know she's been here but I find this combination highly unlikely. I don't know of any oil fields within the city limits, and that area is an older part of the city, so cows are not likely either.
