These Luthecker books are pretty great. Lots of action, intrigue, ass-kicking, and philosophy. Yes, all of those and more go together, and go together well in these books. The main character makes Sherlock Holmes look like whatever that guy's name is on Blue's Clues, which is pretty impressive writing all by itself.
