Our longing for Christ is met by His longing for us, even—to be daring—by His need for us. This points to a very important aspect of the mystery of Christ: it is not something that simply is, but something that is for partaking. Or rather, the mystery is only complete in our own belly, in our own entrails. Our God is a god for consumption, not for contemplation.

The church and its life—the liturgy—are fundamentally based on, or rather essentially constitute this search of Christ for us and His reception of us. . . . The liturgy is not the reality that we find something or someone, but the reality that we are found.
