This doesn't seem at all like a Rebecca Winters book. One of the Winters trademarks is happy families who all love and respect each other (sometimes to the point of saccharinity). This family is the opposite of that. I don't think I like the change.

Actually, I think Julie and Massimo are both pretty brainless too. I don't know how it's possible for two people to communicate so poorly and overreact to so much.

Okay, Massimo's parents were jackasses. Or perhaps mules. His grandparents, too. All four of them deprived Massimo and Pietra of a family home because of pride and to prove a point. Idiots.
