I'm enjoying the College Arc so far. The last few pages of this volume had a cliffhanger ending, but I didn't mind that.

If it's really true that turnips and rutabagas used to be carved into jack-o-lanterns then that was an awesome and fascinating thing to learn about Halloween. 🎃😊

I already knew a little about the history of Samhain from reading Ravenfall last year, but I appreciated the memory refresher.

Rian keeps being dissed, naysayed by people, or a little bit of both. 😶 Poor guy!

I can relate to Torrey's quote about how it's difficult to get moving in the morning. 😅 I'm not a morning person *AT ALL*.

Of course Elias singled out Chise and asked her to do magic in front his class. What a troll!! 😆

Chise met a new acquaintance, Alexandra who is part insect, part human. Elias is exercising self-restraint by waiting outside during Chise's meeting with her.

Elias's talk with Ruth about his emotions was fascinating. He's afraid of upsetting Chise and is being considerate of her feelings and Alexandra's no-guest rule. I appreciate Elias's character development in this chapter.

I'm curious to learn more about Veronica and why she isn't feeling well.

Ruth was encouraging and kind to Chise during this chapter. ❤️ That's not surprising since he's her familiar, but it's still a sweet dynamic to read about. 😊

It's funny that Chise felt less nervous battling Cartaphilus than she did about meeting her new roommate. 🤣 I guess she's not a people person sometimes and that's okay.

Elias can be perceptive since he can tell that Renfred doesn't like him. 😆

I love how Chise wants to learn. 😁💜

That was an interesting beginning. Someone who attends the college where Chise just started is suspicious of her. I'm guessing that she's (the person who's suspicious of Chise) a student.

Josef popped up once in the first chapter and was rude to Chise after she was nice to him. She doesn't have to be kind to him, yet she is. I wish that he'd fuck off for good. 😑
