“I wanted to take pictures so I could remember these people’s faces, but I was too shy. And somehow it didn’t feel right. Some things you just can’t capture with a camera, shouldn’t even try. I walked away, and headed towards the beach to take the long way home.”

“Before you start frying fish, close all the doors to the bedrooms and closets and open the windows,” my mother would say. “You don’t want your clothes smelling like fried fish.”

As much a story about travel as it is about family. It makes me reflect back on stories in my own family , as well as poking my urge to travel.
