I liked this volume, but I didn't love it. Part of it was a little confusing. I liked learning about the backstories of some of the characters, though.

Learning about Zoe's backstory was interesting. It's sad that he feels like an outcast, but he has support at the college. Lucy was a little kinder/gentler in the last chapter, which I appreciated.

I learned something fascinating about Alice and Renfred's relationship in the chapter that I just finished.

I don't understand why Lucy is being such a snot to Chise. 😑😡

It looks like the upcoming chapter will focus on one of the newer characters and their backstory.

From what I understand, Elias gave Chise his bolo tie and told her to take care of it as a way to prevent her from making reckless decisions...? That's an unconventional to go about keeping her safe, but that's one way to do it. 🤔

I forgot the name of the student who dislikes Chise for no reason. 😅

The so-called "guard dogs" are creepy and they look like evil lizards. 😮

I'm glad that Hazel warned Chise and Elias about the dangers in their magic shortcut to the college.

Ashen Eye going after Stella and/or intimidating her is no longer original. I'm done with that recurring idea/theme.

Rahab was sweet to Chise and she seemed to enjoy the update about how Elias was doing. 🙂

Father Simon said something nice to Elias who didn't return the sentiment. Big surprise there. 🙄

It's fun and amusing to learn more about Elias's history with Rahab and her attempts to teach him about humans and their relationships.

It was open-minded of Rahab to tell Elias that he could have a groom/husband. She's accepting and I appreciate that. 😊

I'm worried about Stella because she confronted Ashen Eye. 😟

I appreciate Stella's fierceness. It's clear that she hates Ashen Eye. And who could blame her?

Rahab is being friendly and nice to Chise so far, but that doesn't surprise me.
