NO. The deaf character who was raised to be a warrior would NEVER sit at a bar in an unknown area with his BACK to the WHOLE ROOM. But it's how two MCs meet, through his TSTL action. At least the TSTL is being shared from the female MC to a male MC.

I just tried to read further and had to fight the urge to fling my eReader across the room. I'm either done or need to skip the parts with little miss stupid. I'm going to try to skip first...I don't want to rage DNF, I want to be fair about this one star book. Give it a chance at redemption.

Gah!!!!! TSTL!!!!! Why, WHY is the ONLY female character the TSTL one?!? Oh, that's right, cuz if she killed the bad guy too early, the bad guy could inflict horrible damage on the world and everyone in it, so the good guys wouldn't be able to save the day as spectacularly and the author couldn't milk a series out of this. Using character stupidity to further the plot is just plain LAZY!

Why is it only the female character makes stupid decisions? And why am I tormenting myself reading this book? I guess it's like a trainwreck, you just can't look away...

Want to DNF, but it moves quickly and I'm not a monster, I don't like DNFing books and giving one star reviews. I really want this book to turn around and wow me. I doubt it'll happen.

Wow. If you want to read a super-disturbing scene of a rabbit being murdered by a drop of blood through the eye in an incredibly graphic way, then look no further than this book! :D This is so going to be DNF'd, I can sense it.

Wine red hair, check. Completely made up name that no one would ever have in real life, check. Orphan, check. Special snowflake who has this special magical ability that she has mastered IN ONE HOUR after watching her mentors slaughtered in front of her, despite never having even known this magic existed before, check! I want to say "Bingo", I wish I had that tired YA tropes Bingo card to insert here.

Where the HECK did that come from? And why do the monks just pray as the bad guy stabs them each in the heart?!? Oh I SOOO want to DNF this! It gets another few percent. No better, then DNF.

Red wine hair, orphan and in a land of perpetual cold. In sure she's beautiful too.

"Tresses the color of red wine...fell down her back..." Tresses? Red wine? Snow in summer? Do we, literally, have a special snowflake?
