The intro by Jacquline Wilson, while interesting, created a slightly jarring to the beginning of this 1930’s era read, almost as if she’s trying to explain away the innocence, and stereotypical roles, of the children and genders of this yesteryear fictional family. I wish I’d skipped it and just jumped straight into the story.
